Our time together is YOURS to ask questions, sort through toys, discuss the layout of your play space, what to add, what to take away, etc. My goal is to get to know your family’s needs, wishes and comfort level. I will use this time to explain the purpose of a play space, the functionality and how to get the most from the space.
I will also take this opportunity to get to know your child(ren) because they should have a say in their play space as well! What do your children like to play with? What kind of play are they interested in? What would an ideal play space look like to them?
Here are some suggestions for topics we can discuss and things we can do together:
Practical toy storage ideas
Toy rotations and why they are important
Open-ended toys versus closed-ended toys
Age appropriate toys
Loose parts
Play invitations and how to set them up at home
We can collect loose parts together that you already have in your home
The importance and benefits of play
Sensory play and how it can be done easily at home
We can sort through toys together and declutter your play space
Rearrange the layout of your space
If you would like to purchase new materials and furniture, we can discuss a budget and I will take measurements of your play space. I will use this information to create a mood board and purchasing list for you that will be sent to you via e-mail within two weeks. The cost is $45.00/hour for this service.
At this point, you have 2 options:
With either option, I will check in via e-mail one-month later to see how you and your children are enjoying the play space, how it is being used and if we need to alter anything in the space.
1 hour – $125.00 + additional time $60.00 /hr
You will be sent an intake form prior to our meeting so I can get to know you and your family and your needs and wants in a play space. I will use this information to provide suggestions during our consultation for your play space and how to make it functional so you and your children can get the most out of the space. The rest of our time together is yours to ask questions, share concerns or deepen your understanding of ways to engage your children in play-at-home.

A note from Erica:
As an educator, I spent years setting up engaging and interesting indoor and outdoor spaces for children. I always had an important goal in mind: To create a space where children had a voice, where they felt inspired to play and learn. A space where all children felt capable and confident. I wanted children to know I believed in their capabilities. There are ways to accomplish these goals in the design, layout and the choice of materials you give to children. I believe that the home is an extension of the classroom. Children benefit from a space at home where they can play, create, imagine and feel inspired. By bringing my years of experience working with children and my love for play, I hope to help families create a playroom that is not only beautiful and inviting, but functional and affordable.
